Sakamoto

Yukari Sakamoto is a Japanese film director whose debut feature White Flowers And Fruits premiered at the 73rd San Sebastian International Film Festival. Her work traverses fiction, experimental video, and music video. Her direction, characterized by an atmosphere of space and stillness, and her ability to draw out delicate performances, has been highly regarded.

上智大学にて哲学を専攻後、東京藝術大学大学院にて編集を学ぶ。『21世紀の女の子』の一篇「reborn」を監督。自主映画『レイのために』は大阪アジアン映画祭ほかで上映された。長編デビュー作『白の花実』は、編集、脚本も自身で手掛け、サン・セバスティアン国際映画祭 New Directors部門をはじめ、国内外の映画祭に招待された。余白や静けさのある雰囲気や、繊細な演技を引き出す演出が評価を受けている。
